Hi-i`m afraid i know very little about radio sets as these two sets belonged to my dad who sold radios in the 20`s/early 30`s.The one on the left is a "Pal" and the right side one a "Philmore Supertone" with original box(love the graphics).Could the members be so kind as to tell me,(1)- what yrs. these would have been made, (2)-the concept of crystal radio sets,and(3)-any idea of value?Also-do they look to be complete? Many thanks in advance.

Best,
Wayne

Philmore 336 looks like 1926-ish.

The Pal is a little older... 1924. Love this one... a true pocket portable from "the beginning of time."

Value:
recent Ebay sales -
PAL - $55.00
Supertone - $20.00
Add a bit more to the Philmore because of the original box and packing.
Is there a instruction sheet with either one?

Philmore crystal sets maintained much of their design over a span of many years. Some designs were marketed for over 20 years with little if any change.

I would venture to guess that on a good day a lot of collectors would be after those sets on ebay and condition is a great factor in the ending prices. They are probably not rarities like some crystal sets that bring a lot of money, but a collector would like to have a mint looking Philmore/box in his collection to replace one that is later and perhaps not in greatest condition. They were likely considered kids radios and so the boxes weren't saved and they were not treated with a lot of care over many decades, probably.

I think a collector like me would pay significantly more for these two radios than the recent ebay prices. Anyone have any to sell?

I love the Pal ! I think both would bring higher prices but not too much more. I've been buying crystal sets lately in addition to my 1920's one tube battery sets. It's such a thrill to sit outside and pick up
a couple of stations on them !

homebrew,so far there are not any instruction sheets on the radios, but i`m still looking as they will likely be here somewhere.

RGMOOK,sorry i don`t have any to sell at the present time and best of luck in your search.

philman,i wish i had the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy them and maybe someday i will.

Thanks for the replies and info guys.
