Whomever has the ugliest one - and I mean in their collection- wins. I'll set the bar. Here's my entry:

I have nothing that competes with that one.

I know. I probably by default win. Ironically it sounds really good.

It seems to be missing the pleated fabric behind the grille panels in the doors. It would also look a lot better if it were in a room of the same style, rather than clashing with the surroundings.
One of my favorite radio designs is the Spartan Bluebird. I owned one a long time ago, but eventually sold it. Not because I didn't like it, but it looked out-of-place with the decor of my house.

This has to be my ugly console Lafayette acquired left over GE cabinets and retrofitted an 11 tube chassis, using four 76 tubes for audio preamps. Notice the stilks for mounting the chassis. The dial is thin foil.

Zenith 9H079R Boxy, distorted looking, top heavy, looks like an oven, just plain butt ugly.

I posted this once before as an "Ugly console"
It currently houses a Meissner 9-1093 which is a 20+ tube AM/FM radio with external power amp chassis and a 15" coaxial speaker.
Sadly this cabinet is actually made of particle board which makes it even more ugly.
Not fitting for such a nice radio.

The Zenith and Meissner are kinda blaaa, I guess, but the first two seem palatable if not awe inspiring. I was assuming that painted and repurposed horrors would float to the top of this survey?

It's more interesting to find the factory made sets because they weren't uglified by a single person with to much time on their hands, but instead, it was a group effort by corporate designers.

I removed the pleated curtains because they made it difficult to access the controls without having to open the door. That and they looked pretty silly. I imagine this looked good in some old lady's home with crushed green velvet upholstered furniture and little ceramic figurines
No matter. Despite the hideous appearance the cabinet is very solid, made by drexel and the system is Motorola's 3 channel amp design with a center 15" woofer and 5-6 little speakers per side, plus additional external speakers. So it seriously rocks. But the style is just plain awful!

So you wish it was what? Blonde painted Danish Modern? Someone must have one of those true eyesores. Yes, you could improve the appearance of yours with lace doilies and some German ceramic figurines. Just keep a swiffer handy.

How about simply removing the doors, after all, who needs doors on a console stereo, anyway? Their decorative but in the way when you want to access something inside. Just remove them.

I’ve taken the liberty of rotating LarryAD’s photos - I kinda like the look of it! What’s the model number, please? Attachment:

Ugly compared to what Bob? Your plastic TV
Obviously you have zero appreciation of furniture design or construction methods through the decades of the 20th century.

I wouldn't really call that Motorola ugly, just out of place. Especially compared to many of Motorola's earlier, truly hideous offerings. I think they made some out of shipping crates nailed together.

I dunno.. It is pretty ugly and a lot of my friends poke fun of it. Personally I don't care that much as its used as a sound system. It actually had its first problem this weekend with a failed relay. Otherwise its used every day of the week. If for some reason I come across a more attractive version of the same system I might consider replacing it.

BobWilson77, Obviously your subscriptions to Traditional Home and Country French magazines have lapsed. Your cabinet is a mid 20th century interpretation of a mid 18th century Louis XV vessellier. This is shown by the elegant curve of the legs and the asymmetrical panels. The hardware shows an intent to mimic a Breton provincial design, of stylized dragon heads. Its biggest transgression is that it is not made of oak. Louis XV has never been out of style, but the best revival pieces were probably from the 1920s. It differs from the contemporary English Georgian style which had straight legs and similar but symmetrical panels. Chairish is currently offering a similar "antique" vessellier painted a horrible pinkish-orange and cream for $5,800. Attachment:

Here's my most ugly Stromberg Carlson. The dial cover is just screwed to the front with 4 exposed screws. But it doesn't qualify because I did manage to sell it. A decent 6V6 amp and good speaker.
