Here are some pictures from a Truetone D726 I restored a couple months ago.

Let's start off with the cabinet. It was in nice condition to begin with, with what looked like the original finish. I applied some Old English and carnauba wax to it, and replaced the missing grille cloth a piece that I found on Ebay that is black with gold accents like the original.

Moving on to the chassis - I replaced all the old paper caps and out of tolerance resistors. There were also lots of cloth covered wires that had frayed and needed to be replaced. This involved removing and disassembling the IF transformers to rewire them. A fuse and new cloth covered line cord were also added. The speaker had several tears in it and was rattling, so I used some tacky craft glue to patch it up. I also re-glued the loose grid caps on the tubes.

After finishing up with an alignment, the radio plays great.

That's a nice looking radio. Warm and comforting. Nice job.

I just picked one up recently that I'm going to get started on soon. I got it for $15 from someone local who was just looking for someone to take care of her deceased husband's family radio as none of her kids were interested. The dial glass cleaned up nicely and the dial is actually pristine.

Good luck with your Truetone - hopefully the wiring under is in better condition than mine was.
