Greatly overpriced. In his wildest dreams. Where's the provenance?

Also selling on Ebay with a $10,000 starting bid: https://www.ebay.com/itm/402835482137?h ... SwX9dgmHT2

Seller's a delirious dreamer. That set is worth more like around $4000, maybe up to $5000 tops to someone who really wanted it. That set does look better with that SC chassis then it would have with a Philco chassis.

Did Radiobar build to suit buyers? It is interesting that the set is in Rochester, obviously the home of S-C. Perhaps something custom for an S-C executive or even a prototype made for S-C.

He's maybe just advertising in the wrong place. Needs to approach interior design people for the rich and famous.
I really like it, but prefer my mug with a handle. :D

It looks like the 130M or 140L chassis, 8 or 9 tubes, but could be a souped up version, custom build.

I feel like I could get a woodworker to build a custom radio-bar cabinet for considerably less than that, with equal quality glassware, and have something that would be functional as a bar and also put the radio chassis high enough to be operated by someone of adult height.

I think you're correct about the woodworking. I have no idea about the price of new, replica glassware, but my guess on the cabinet would be 40-60 hours plus veneers and base materials. I'd say $5k to $7k for a properly built, properly finished cabinet.

85 years later, the radiobar story continues to be told. This looks about as factory as you can get, although some wood guys out there could recreate it and match the panel stain I suppose. Radiobar sent out empty cabinets, that much we know..but I've never seen a SC in one. I also had never seen one with a big chassis Majestic chassis either, until I bought one...lol
As for price, well, quite ridiculous to me, but some artsy rich person with a deco theme might pony up. Can't blame the guy for trying.... :)

Just noticed it has Philco chevron grillcloth. hmmmm

I'm sure we haven't seen all the brands of radios put into Radiobars yet-who knows what is still out there. I came across this one in a refinisher's shop in a small town near Detroit a few years ago. It had a Grunow chassis-looked like an original setup. No idea if he had any glassware. He was still working on it, so he wouldn't put a price on it. Judging from his other prices, I wouldn't have been able to afford it, anyway.
