I collect about everything Winchester ever sold (from guns to food grinders to ice skates, etc.) but I don't have a Winchester radio. As you may have noticed there is one on eBay at https://www.ebay.com/itm/Very-Rare-Tabl ... 1438.l2649 . There was one sold at the big Rock Island Gun Auction so I know approximately what the price should be even though the one that sold did not include the speaker.

One problem I have with the one currently on eBay, besides the broken speaker which I can fix, is that it looks to me like it is missing the dial scale which may well be hard to come by. OTOH, it may be the same as some RCA radio as I am guessing that is who made this one. If you would take a look at the pictures and let me know if you agree that the dial scale is missing I would really appreciate it.

Don

Looks like it is missing, bidding is high, someone really wants it.

I suspect that it will go for somewhere between $2,400 and $2,900. I don't know how to cross reference it to another radio but just maybe I could get a dial scale at https://www.radiolaguy.com/RadioDials-page2.htm .

Looking at the dial I dont think it would be that hard to get one. It does look like an early RCA dial. Looks a lot like my Radiola 60 tuner. Although mine is a metal band. Take a look at Radiola Guys site. He has repro dial bands.

These radios have been discussed on here a couple times.

The radio was manufactured by Day-Fan and Winchester put their name on it.

Nothing special really. Except maybe the name? God only knows…

I have a tendency to agree with you. Just can't tell if the diameter is the same or not. If so, the good part is that the 60 is just like the 17 and 18 and I think that I have an extra one of them. Wait, I just used my extra on a 60. Oh well, I know that they are available.

Just get a dial off of a junker Day-Fan 5077 or 5080. Same dial as on the Winchester. I'm sure there's lots of junker Day-Fans sets out there with good dials. I just wonder if those dial drums assemblies might suffer from pot metal fatigue.

Here's a junker that recently sold on Ebay. Seemed to be missing it's dial scale also.

Wish I had known that about 30 years ago, I had one that came in a lot of consoles which a picker had bought from the Salvation Army for a few dollars apiece, and after trying to sell for many years ended up giving it away. None of the local old timers I asked about it knew anything about the brand and there was no internet to do research.

Could be a crossover collectible as well, for those interested in firearms.

Don, since you're a Winchester collector and might have books on their collectibles, is there an original advertisement for this radio anywhere? (or possibly one for a Winchester console using the same chassis) Also, it looks like somebody did way too good of a job cleaning that name plate/escutchion.
