That's a bargain. It used to be $1500, then $1000.

That shutter dial has a lot of character. Leave it alone it didn't hurt anybody.

I think everyone needs at least one home brew in their collection but probably not this one.

It is NOT a homebrew. It is a frame from a Zenith 9s244 or 9s242 Chairside cabinet. The only "Value" to it would be the chassis, the Knobs, the Escutcheon and the 10" 49-205 Speaker. Unless one had a totally empty Zenith 9s244 or 9s242 cabinet and didn't want to built the frame. The Seller should correct his title to the auction. 9 tube 1938 shutter dial chassis for Console Chairside or Walton Cabinet.

^^^ Thanks, John! That picture really helps in understanding its origin. Appears to just unscrew from the inside. I had no idea! There definitely is some value there.

yes but not $700 worth. Chassis $200 range considerably more if it has been PROPERLY restored. One wouldn't know unless we saw the bottom side of the chassis. Speaker 50 to 100? It is a 10" one with 1000 ohm field coil model 49-205 very similar to Zenith 8s463 speaker. Probably the wiring harness is shorter than for a console. Escutcheon $30 or so Knob set including the lever knob $100 range. The frame would only be useful to someone who had a totally empty 9s242 or 9s244 cabinet. Only other use for the frame would be a nice start of packing to ship the chassis so it wouldn't get damaged.

^^^ Agree 100% & that's why I stated "some value" and that's also why it's still for sale.

I don't think it was the Waltons radio, it probably belonged to a feller further back in the holler, Snuffy Smif.
