For $79,495.00, you'd think shipping might be available.

They named the radio after WLW? That's cool! :D

So where's the amplifier? I see the power supply but no amplifier.

Here's the history of that WLW.

Why wouldn't wlw itself buy the radio for display after all it is their station call letters.

For the same reason no one else will; the price is ridiculous.

This radio, by this seller, has been listed, along with a few other high end radios, several times before. Here is a recent discussion about it on ARF:

Yes, where is the amplifier? In their previous auction you could plainly see it and at that time they were asking $78,000. Now the amplifier has gone AWOL and now they want $79K+????

It's impressive and rare, but just TOO big in my opinion. Almost cartoonish. It even dwarfs the Zenith Z1000.

Kinda ugly for that kind of money, and after all, it is just an AM radio. I could buy a car nice enough to pick up chicks for $80k.
I think the 16A63 is probably the nicest looking console ever made, much more so than even the Z1000. Obviously the value of these "high end" sets has been steadily in decline, and for good reason.

"The WLW cabinet is beautiful with a shiny original finish that has only been polished".

"The price you see is less than we paid for it and that doesn't count the restoration that was close to 8,000.00"

What!..
 Greg.

It looks kind of ridiculous. Like a cartoon. Not sure I'd actually want this even if someone gave it to me

Take out the very petite women and replace them with a Zenith Strat (raised on a cart) for comparison.

This (cropped) picture is from Lenny (ronij8) from a previous thread on the WLW radio: https://www.antiqueradios.com/forums/vi ... 6#p2099756

Many discussions on this radios exist. It was suggested that it belongs in a museum, but again, who will pay for it? I hope it doesn’t happen, but if the owner were to pass someday, it would be in their will to donate to the Smithsonian. A huge piece of history

Yes. Putting aside personal opinions, it is very rare, impressive, and a piece of radio history.

Seems to be going up with the inflation index.
That scuff mark on the base, still not fixed, ruins it for me.
