As many times as it takes to catch a FISH. This is #5 see the previous 4 times here..

that is first hit Other Auctions by this seller. Then switch to highest price first... then select SOLD on the left side... see this same box sold 4 previous times. Each time it was about 600 bucks. Obvious shill operation but FleaBay really could care less about that part. Same type operation as you know who... except You Know Who has a much better collection of Shill Bidding Accounts so it only looks like bid came in last 30 days from this bidder to be in the 30 to 50% range rather than this guy who his shills probably show 100% of their bidding with same seller.

Should I assume that model did not come from the factory with the brass all scrubbed and shiny like that? Or so dark cased?

There are so many things wrong with this clunker, where do I begin? Not worth $100 at a yard sale except as a project that needs lots of help to correct the mess. Shiny brass lacking all patina. Wrong knob on top. Notches for station preset tabs covered. Wrong grill cloth. Pathetic finish.

Well, that seller caught a fish with me on the Zenith 990.

I still can't believe I got that radio for $900

I was the one and only bidder!

Yes, I need to do something about the escutcheon.... :(

I've taken over polished escutcheons and hung them from a tree branch with string. It takes a couple of good rainy months to really tarnish it up but the end result looks natural, like it was never polished in the first place.

I have started seeing alot of Zeniths and others for sale with the snot polished out of the brass parts, and they look like they used a Brillo pad to do it.

If you look at that bidder, you see 60 bids with 26 rescinded..

Yuck, the set the post is about is terrible. It looks like a painted cabinet rather than stained veneer. Just a mess.
As far as the polished bezel goes on the other console, I've seen them sprayed with wood stain (let dry) and then clear coated. It comes out looking quite nice!
