This is a beautiful higher-end deco Silvertone console with lots of potential, but I get the feeling there's going to be a mouse nest under that chassis. What do you guys think?

Looks like mice ate the asbestos insulation on the upper inside of the cabinet. It will be worse than any of us can imagine under the chassis and I've seen bad ones.

I thought the same thing. It just looks like a mouse nest back there with the rust and corrosion on the chassis, and, of course, the chewed up asbestos. The picture highlighted where all of it went - under the chassis for a cozy nest. It's a shame because I can't recall when I saw another one these beautiful deco consoles for sale.

Check the classifieds... :)

Silvertone 1965 is basically a 1967 with only one IF amp, I think that's the main diff...

Rodney,
The Silvertone Model 1965 is an 8 tube radio and the 1967A is a 10 tube. The 1967A in this auction has many curved surfaces, different grill bars and different types of veneers woods on the front. It looks to be a fancier cabinet, all around. Too bad this one has a bad refinish, with no toning and no grain filler. I bet it looked really nice when new....

Here's a pic of my Silvertone 1965. The light spot on the bottom right is house paint that will clean off when I give it "the treatment". Below that is the 1967A that's on eBay now.

I'm also convinced that the cabinet's been refinished. It was probably done many years ago, long before the grill cloth got torn and the mouse moved in.
