I just stumbled on this odd puppy on one of the SF Bay Area CL boards:

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/clt/d/ ... 54699.html

Pink novelty radio labeled "Times Sputnik". Looking closely, the dial is marked "KC" (for AM) but no conelrad marks that I can see, so a 1964-68 era set. Styling is much more 1970s though. Weird that a "Sputnik" radio would pop up in the mid-late 60s, Sputnik itself was pretty much old hat by then, the focus was getting men on the moon by that time. Also, the styling is much more 1970s "space-age/futurist". It's possible it is from Europe though. $50 may not be way out of line if it's really rare-I myself have never seen one.

It looks more like a Compass than Sputnik.

TIMES Radio made by:

Tokyo Electric Industrial Co Ltd

Page 26 (page 29 in the IA pageation...) of the Electronic Equipment Components and Manufacturers in Japan:

https://archive.org/details/ElectronicE ... 2/page/n28

Field "D" (D) is the name brands they sold under.

Perhaps someone might create a reverse cross with the Brand Names listed, then the manufacturer. Some brands had several manufacturers listed, and others only manufacture parts (Toko, Nichicon, etc.)

There are newer lists of manufacturers - Sams reprinted one in a Photofact set ("Servicer Special") from the early 70s. mainly listing brands, maker in Japan/Hong Kong/Taiwan, the USA importer, and importer address. I can't find mine, last used to find the maker of ALARON CB radios. TAB also published the list in the back of their "Servicing Japanese Electronics" series (green.blue and black covers). Mostly just the importers name and address.

Not sure if it's the same Times Brian.

JAPAN 715 appears on the back of Weltron models.

The importer for Weltron may be mentioned on the front page of one of their Photofacts.

Juliette, Channel Master, and Viscount all had several manufacturers too. Just putting out what's out there.
