There was a time I was avidly searching for one for one these. Since then this is the only nice example I've seen come up for sale. I like story about it too. A very "jazzy" looking example of early art-deco styling.

That's just about the nicest example, both in style and condition, that I've ever seen. Absolutely well worth the opening bid price.

I remember seeing this paint style as a kid thinking that someone painted it and it wasn't factory.

Yes, that's a nice one.
I thought I had the one in the best condition, but this one may have me beat.
These are hard to find in this condition.

All those AK tool-box sets with those "spare-tire" speakers are rather scary looking, but as time went on, that's the reason I began to like them! Can you imagine it in an old dark Victorian house?!
I'd love to have it for an early art-deco radio, but I definitely don't have the space for that one.

What a beauty! First thing to do after acquisition, replace the power switch with one that is period correct. As I type, I am sitting here looking at my AK40 and AK42 it would be nice to have that sitting here with them. I'll be watching the auction with interest, but I do not think that I will bid.

Looks like it was inspired by that 1927 movie "Metropolis".

I'd love to have it, but wouldn't want to deal having that heavy thing shipped.

Wow, $1,535.00...I didn't think that it would get over $800.00 but obviously I didn't have a clue about the value.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. That's the kind of radio you very prominently display in your home. I just hope it'll be packed well because it would be a real shame if it got damaged in shipment. Hopefully the seller won't use the radio or speaker as anchors for the packing tape because removing the tape from the painted surfaces might lead to damage to the paint.

Wow is right! Although I really like it, it always seems like many collectors put this one down. Obviously that doesn't effect it's value! I was thinking maybe $450-$500. I cringe at the thought of it being shipped. Those are heavy little units.

Wow. That is basically a 100 dollar radio except for the 1400 dollar paint job.
