I am looking at this radio afternoon. Funny thing is someone added a voltmeter above the dial scale. I am thinking I can veneer over if I want to clean it up.

All other parts are there and cabinet looks nice. Any idea what I would be worth? I usually buy mid to late 30s sets.

If I was to take a mint working AB 58 to a swap meet, I think the most I'd be able to sell it to would be around $75 and that's it. In the 90s I would have easily have gotten around $150 but those square box, basic AM, highboy radios have been suffering a steady decline in value. The one you speak of, in non working condition, with a non factory alteration of either a tuning meter or the patch up to cover what once was a tuning meter, is probably worth around $25 at most. That meter or patch up will always be a hard negative in reselling that radio.

In my honest opinion, whatever you invest into that radio, you'll never get it all back when you sell it. Buy it to keep and not to sell.
