That's quite an incredible piece of music history. Awhile back I saw on that Cajun Pawn Stars show, a guy had the first record by Jerry Lee Lewis. It was a 45 r.p.m. They offered him $30,000 and he refused it. Oh well...

How about a 78 RPM Charley Patton, Paramount 12792, E Blues record which just sold for a mere $19,600.

Down in Florida, about 30 years ago, I could've got a nice Sun Elvis 45 for $100. I was about to get it and then hesitated. I was used to getting records for 10 and 25 cents mind you! I still regret it to this day. Not only for the value, but just to admire. A friend gave me Elvis's first RCA LP in excellent condition for helping him move, and I have a couple of Elvis RCA 78RPM records too. Those aren't easy to come by either.

Going to have to look through my boxes upon boxes of 78’s for that Charley Patton... would sell it for a quarter of that in a heartbeat!!!

Cool but if you bought those records what do you do ? say I have them and do nothing with them ? play them , wear or damage then what ?
I like how these things have a high value but even if I had the money I doubt I would get them .

True. Buying rare records is like buying rare "trailer-queen" classic cars that you almost never drive. You're just making yourself the current caretaker and have the pride of ownership - if that pleases you.
