While using my weed wacker I thought about the relatively high voltage batteries on those cordless yard tools. Some batteries go as high as 40 volts or possibly higher. What about using 2of these in series inside a replica B battery? While some are expensive Ebay and amazon have some discounted ones. They seem to last a long time and are easily recharged.

I've not used anything higher than the two 20 volt black and decker Batts in my garage. One is a 1.5 AH, the other is a 4.0 AH.

I'll be interested in this thread, since I am not very comfortable with lithium batteries. Too many stories of the high energy density working against you in the case of over charge, over current, or over temperature. (cell phones, laptops, Tesla's, e-cigs)

So I use them but only charge when they need it and then pull them off charger once the indicator says it's fully charged. I read that they are happiest when they are sitting at charged state without extra charger time.

Just bought a Ryobi 40 V leaf blower. The battery pack (3 Ah) weighs about 4 lbs.

Right, the charging unit for those things is pretty sophisticated. I don't believe it will keep charging when the battery is fully charged. Even so, I also take the battery off the charger when it is ready.

I ran a Bush transistor radio on a 9 volt rechargeable for a while a few years back now. It is in storage now, but I'll say that it worked great at the time.

What is the B+ and 1.5v filament maximum current of these battery powered radios?
