Update.... I changed the transistor pins on now when turned on, both relays engage and the output tubes climb to 750vdc. Voltage coming from somewhere to engage the relays when the mic is not pressed.

I don't think you will get too much help here. No ham would like to see these illegal units get on the air, they are poorly designed and should be parted out.

That is like saying all food is bad. And all amplifier s we're not splatty. That's just a generalalization

I didn't say all the amps were bad, only the illegal CB amps which splatter all over due to the cheap construction and poor design. The linears I use are designed for the ham bands and do not splatter all over.

This is from your other thread from Macrohenry, did you do this?

OR maybe one of the relay switch arms is stuck to where it doesn't respond to what the coil wants it to do.

OR the latching is caused by another circuit somewhere else in the device.

The solution is two fold. Disconnect both coil leads from the rest of the device and check for proper coil action and continuity for all the contacts. Then you'll know if the relay is working and if it is, then the problem is something else. Second, trace the wiring to find out what's latching the relay. If it's clear that it's designed to latch, then trace further to find a circuit in the device that is designed to unlatch it.

Thanks Reeves... I did do that but I cant figure the path that engages the relays. Still looking though.

Machenry.... the schematic is similar but more components than what I'm trying to repair so I'm having difficulty trying to follow the path.

I just PM'd you a simpler schematic. It's mostly the same but with fewer components and drawn more compactly. The functioning should be the same.

BTW, your humility and taking the time to thank people who help you makes me want to help you more.

Thanks Macrohenry but I do not see any PM's in my inbox..... it says I have one but when I click on Private Messages and then the inbox, it only shows the read ones. I'm probably doing something wrong.

Ok.... I found the one that was unread now Pm's are showing none new
