Sorry for the confusion. I designed a PCB circuit with an optional PI circuit for the Aerial. So either you use C4 and C5 with an aerial (antenna1), OR you use the full PI circuit with C4, C5, L1, C8 and C12 and then -and only then- aerial2 (antenna2). In my circuit I did not use L1/C8/C12, so these values are not tested and are (very) experimental.
In either case you will connect only one antenna.

The PI circuit was just added because I read an article about antenna matching. The PI circuit could enhance power a bit, but since it met my requirements without the extra components I did not investigate it further. (and I like simplicity)

Further, I am not familiar with HAM radio receivers. Cannot help you there. If it is a simple AM protocol, it should work I guess..

Hope this answers most of your questions.

Oh my antenna is some 6 feet. The longer the more output so I gather.
