I am looking to make a high frequency transceiver using subminiature pentodes and one dual triode. I bought 20 subminiature russian pentodes a while back, and want to put them to use. They are type 1J29B-V. I also have 1 dual triode 6N16B-VI if it ends up being useful.

The goal is to design the radio to use the 2 meter band or higher (into the cm bands). I'd like to try to have this be battery powered and portable, but that might be impractical.

Has anyone done this before? Are there any readily available schematics/designs?

Thanks for any input.

Yes, AM. However much power I can get out of it for the size of the tubes.

If you are building AM you best build a pair so you can have someone to talk to, on VHF.
