What is your schematic reference Mike? Do you have a link to it? What chassis number do you have? I have a feeling you are connecting the caps wrong.

((((( I didnt clean off the flux can that bridge and cause a short?)))))

that happened to me on an old fender amp,I actually saw the flux bubble as the volts went through it .
cleaned it and the problem went away

Bill there is a schematic on the first page of this thread. I havent really had time to get back to this. Its summer and I like to be outside right up until winter. I will get back to this when it gets cold. I do know that I have a few bunk resistors and at least one bad tube. I also bought a replacement cap can to install.
