Hello,
I am looking for a vintage stereo Preamp. In the early 1980's I purchased a Hafler DH 101 Pre and see them on Ebay for about what I sold mine for decades ago. My question is are there better choices today or should I consider getting another one? I only sold it because of the "HT" craze in the 1990's now I wish I kept it.

I had one of those and also a DH 110. The 110 has a big heavy duty remote controls but what is cool is the volume control is a knob instead of pushbuttons on the remote. One interesting thing about a 101 is that it used TL0 type op amps(as I recall) and those can now be upgraded to much better audio chips for somewhat little money. Most could be drop in replacements. You have to nave some kind of notion of how much you want to spend before you start searching. If it is a really good preamp with a following and good reputation, it will not be dirt cheap, even if vintage.
