Hello! New to this forum but I've hit a brick wall in trying to identify the brand of a stereo my grandpa had when I was young. I want to try and find one that has been restored or that I can restore myself and gift to my mom. From the research I've done, it looks similar to one of GE's vintage stereos (HiFi?) but as you'll note in the photo, it has three rows of speakers on the sides and does not have legs. ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Wish I had another photo but it's all I have.

Looks like a GE, about 1969 or 1970.

Man, that's a tough one. I hunted through every catalog I have and performed numerous searches with nada. It's those horizontal bars that are throwing me. Not many cabinets used horizontal bars. I'll keep looking. Can you ballpark the year of the photo?

Thank you so much, Larry! That's what is throwing me off too, although I'm glad it's a feature that doesn't blur a line between other common features. It was taken circa 1977 in Chicago. It was purchased from a store called Polk Brothers in Chicago.

I wanted to share a brand that I came across that has a strong resemblance to the stereo in case it sparks an idea in anyone's head. Also, I talked to my older sister and she said the center column was for storing records while the speakers were on the sides. The top would open and that's where the record player was. She thinks the controls were also on top for the sound but we weren't allowed to play with it so she could be wrong.

The Magnavox Concert Grand and the Magnavox Phonograph—Radio Console both have the horizontal lines, however, the controls are in the center which tells me I don't have a winner :/

I can't thank everyone enough. I was unsure of what the response would be. Had I known, I would've provided much more detail.

Still pretty sure it is a 1970 or so GE, I remember that cabinet and I believe there was a magazine ad featuring it.

I knew I had seen an ad for it, just slightly earlier than I thought.

That's easy, find one and refurb it then enjoy the memories. :D
