i never did either with the standard "foam" replacements and the glue they sent. i've done a lot and they look perfectly original when done, like your cerwins.

OCD will allow nothing less, LOL.

it was the special black glue that goes with the Rubber Surrounds. i guess the "foam glue" will not bond with the Rubber Surrounds and the special black glue is needed.

the only thing i could see being a problem is changing the mass of the cone and motor structure.
