Gary sold his business to this person: https://youtu.be/nEJbHG7Ytnw

Unfortunately according to his website "Blueglow Electronics"
https://blueglowelectronics.wordpress.com/transformer-rewinding/

The owner of the business had a heart attack and has pushed the rewinding service to the wayside.

During WWII there were parts shortages and repairmen got creative, figuring out how to adapt available parts. This "hobby" has reached that point as well. I enjoy doing a bit of research and improvising, rather than just swapping parts. I save a lot of money and can be proud of my successes. There are tons of transformers available, just figure out which ones will work at a good price. I often suggest transformers on this site, occasionally someone will actually follow my advice. Try it!

To the OP; You don't say what type or kind of transformer that you're trying to get rewound or repaired. That info would help.

I've had good luck with Heyboer Transformer, but then they are in my "backyard". I've also gotten to know the guys and it helps that I do a lot of the legwork that needs done to make a rewind or "re-create". happen. I don't know that you'd get an answer from them on an e-mail. I've had MUCH better luck either calling or walking in the front door. A little insight with Heyboer is also helpful. They don't really have an EE on staff. They are REALLY good at building a transformer and if you have the specs that you need, they can make it happen. HOWEVER, if you need an audio transformer, or something that needs special values, then YOU need to give them the spec for what you need done. They are an OEM supplier to the likes of Brunswick, Ampeg, Marshall, and several other manufacturers. They build power supply transformers for several medical equipment manufacturers. They get the specs of what is needed and they put it together.

That said, I've had them recreate the saturable reactor primary core for the GE colorama radios, they just finished recreating the output transformers for the tweeters in a Zenith 12A58 (and probably they will work in several other versions), and they've built an export version power transformer for a 1000Z Zenith stratosphere. In all those cases, they either were given all the specs, or had the piece that needed rewound/replaced put in their hands. So keep all that in mind when you want them to do something.

Heyboer received my pair of transformers and did nothing with them for 9 months. They never cashed the money order, never notified me that they were not going to rewind them, though they authorized me to send them, and lost one of the two transformers. I got the one back last month and they said they would send me the other if they found it. I am out one RCA DA audio and 9 months waiting, and if I had not contacted them I would still be waiting. Steer clear of Heyboer.

For what it's worth, I just had Mercury Magnetics rewind the driver transformer from the audio amplifier in my Hammarlund SP-150. It was not cheap ($375.00) but they did an excellent job. They were not terribly fast, I sent them the old one in May and just got it back last week. Their rewinding service is first in first out and there were several transformers ahead of me in the queue. I was not in a hurry, and they promptly replied to my monthly status requests. The workmanship was excellent, the rebuilt transformer functions perfectly in the receiver, and considering the rarity of the receiver I consider the money well spent to restore the receiver to operating condition.

No financial interest in Mercury, just a satisfied customer who will use them again, should the need arise.
