A side note - - we have many patches of bearded purple iris around the house. They came from my wife's grandmothers flower garden many years ago. Many folks used to called them "flags", to honor the fallen, since they reliably bloom on Memorial (Decoration) Day. Ours our exceptionally bountiful this year. Truly a wonderful & perennial bit of history.

I raise my beer to all that gave---they are the ones that paved the way for our freedom.

I hope everyone is doing something special for the holiday. I always have a Memorial Day cookout----burgers, hot dogs and beer. My friend went to a parade (she lives in PA)
