Sony ICF 2002. Stock telescopic antenna.

I don't think you need the telescopic antenna for a station in the expanded BCB. The internal ferrite loop should be sufficient, and of course rotating the set for best reception.

Hmmm, not quite accurate with this radio which is an older Sony ICF 2002 that I have and Broadcast band covers 520 to 1620. Any stations beyond that requires telescoping antenna fully extended.

I tried using ferrite loop only and got little or no reception and telescoping antenna was necessary.

BTW, reception was good last night. 40 meter and 80 meter SB was busy.

Interesting. I'll have to see what it is on my ICF-2010.

Received a very nice letter and magnetic bumper stickers from
WMID in Atlantic City NJ in 3 days after hearing about it on their main
1340 kHz tx. which is receivable here with a good signal during the day.
Also the owner's e mail and desk phone number were made available
for comment. First class station !

That's great! Can you get their sister station, on 1230 in Wildwood, NJ? I listen to them when I'm there.

There is a local here at 1230 , WJOI. They occupied most of the local area for that freq, and was a!so my daily
but the day finally came that " we are taking out the tower rather than it fall down". They are still there but the signal is much reduced
to the point it's there but not listenable at my house.
WNAV 1430 Annapolis is another great little station with actual people with a solid day signal here .

Those signals over the bay water to me are great for old school direction finding demonstrations . Getting within 5 degrees of actual
direction with just a cheap portable is not much of a problem .

Thanks for the info. WCMC is the station on 1230. Glad to hear you can get WMID at your location. Found this interesting tidbit on Wikipedia:

Nice S9+ signal from Wolverine Radio tonight around 0000 UTC to
0100 UT on 6950 USB , theme was "slow/ fast " heard Rosemary Clooney, John Prine , Tracy Chapman, Dylan
and others easily identifiable . Didn't track a playlist or SSTV this time . Pleased the signal once again can be heard
reliably on 43 meters as the just above 4000 kHz frequencies this winter weren't really working out here.

But turns out WKPE is an f.m. station, WKPE a.m. is defunct.

Station was possibly referencing the f.m. station, which is in

South Yarmouth, MA..

Found this....

On 810 AM I can get WCKA in Jacksonville, AL playing country, but currently I'm hearing an adult standards station I'm not familiar with. The antenna is southeast/northwest. Nothing on Wikipedia I see has this format. Unfortunately I couldn't hear their ID at the top of the hour but I'll keep trying. Seems like good conditions tonight.

This evening right at 2300 UTC (6 PM CDT) parked about a mile east of here listening to KCJK 105.1 out of Kansas City which was weak and fading up and down when it was covered by a station ID of WIOV which then went into playing a country song (I don't listen to modern country so have no idea) and it was covered by KCJK again. Looked up WIOV on my phone and it's out of Ephrata, PA!

Meteor scatter? Seems a long enough path to be so via the E layer.

Later there were a couple of other stations fading around and then I had to leave as the field work was done.

I just looked at my APRS digi (N0NB-10, 144.390 MHz) record and it did receive KV3B-1 at 2309 UTC which is located near Germantown, MD, so not too far from that FM station in about the same time frame.
