My wife picked up a telephone table last weekend at an estate sale that still had a candlestick phone tucked inside the niche on top. The table appears to be walnut. I've seen a couple of similar tables in catalogs of the early 1920s. The phone has a Western Electric model 534 subset with it, but there are no markings on or inside the phone itself other than "A.E." (Automatic Electric?) inside on the back of the dial and "413A" stamped on the wiring diagram paper on the inside of the base. I'm guessing the phone is slightly newer than the table (about 1930 or so I'm guessing from the bull-nose mouthpiece).

Can anyone help provide a positive ID on this phone? Photos of the table and phone are below:

The phone is an Automatic Electric 1930's Candlestick with a Bulldog transmitter. The transmitter is not the most common made. Not rare, but unusual. How much did you pay ?

Thanks Koot. I was thinking it looked like a later ('30s) candlestick. Is 413A the model number, or is it a code (like, 41st week of 1933)?

She paid $75 for all - the table, chair, phone, and ringer box.

Did the phone companies commonly pair two different manufacturers' items together (in this case, Automatic phone with WE box)?
