Nice finds Steve, plus also the famous Kirk face.

Another Mag Berkshire appeared within reach, I nabbed it and sure enough when I got there it was alongside the S-31 stereo conversion speaker with the identical AMP 150 inside. My OCD burns a bit knowing the companion speaker base style doesn't match the traditional styling of the Berk, but I'm also not complaining. In fact perhaps the combination works. But someday I'd like to trade for an S-31 in the matching foot style I suppose. Excited to get the extension speaker up and running. If anyone knows where I may find replacement 4 conductor ribbon cable let me know. About 20ft of it was buried in the wall at the home I purchased it from. :(

Picked up a Zenith 6s227 at the VRPS auction Friday night. It is missing knobs and speaker but I actually bought it for the cabinet. The cabinet is in pretty good shape and it will be used to replace a messed up cabinet of a Hurricane Katrina survivor I acquired a few years ago. I have a working chassis with knobs and speaker. Just I have been on the hunt for a good cabinet and now I have one.

There is a post in the Radio Club and events section regarding the VRPS auction. I have posted pictures there of a few radios auctioned off on Saturday.

I've been trying to find a decent reasonable one for a couple of years and you find one at the dump!? For the luvva Pete!

In the past two weeks two have sold in the Boston area on Facebook Marketplace, each for $100. One was in excellent condition, the other one a little beat-up. I was surprised to see so many listed on Facebook, they don't show up on the local Craigslist very often.

The eBay prices for the RF-4900 and RF-4800 do seem rather high, although occasionally one sells for less than $200.

Attended an estate sale for a silent key this morning. Most of the goodies had been grabbed already, and much of it was too new/expensive for my tastes anyway, but I did pick up a couple of things. The main find was a Microlog ACT-1 "Amateur Communications Terminal", along with a semi-matching Bell & Howell/Fernseh monitor, which I got for a total of $70. The ACT-1 is a multi-purpose unit which can manage both RTTY and morse code. Both units seem to work to some extent, and the monitor may also get some use with my early microcomputers like the Apple II+:

My other find was a Heathkit IT-12 signal tracer, which I got for $15. The IT-12 was on the market for a long time, and was quite versatile. I haven't tested it yet, but it seems to be in fairly good shape overall:

Well, Kirk ended up getting that Philco 37-690.
I went up to the Fort Wayne, Indiana hamfest then swung by Tiffin Ohio to get it for him.
I only bought a few small odds and ends at the hamfest, but when I picked up the Philco, the seller offered me a couple other radios.
I couldn't say no, and ended up with a GE M-125 twelve tuber and a Pilot T-1424 (Yes, I know the M-125 is missing its ferns)

I'm hopeless.....

Anyhow, since the Philco is Kirks, I figured I should do a pic like he does.... but I am SO much less photogenic... ugh... I look like Snively from Sonic the Hedgehog

I like that Pilot Steve!

An Audition radio. This radio is strange to me in that it is battery operated, but seemingly meant to be a table top radio. Also, unlike a table top or an AM only radio, it has a telescoping antenna. A Browni model 702 in near unused condition. It has a seven on the front, but it doesn't say transistors. A label on the back reads 5 transistors and 2 diodes. Another example of the transistor war. A six page Jensen speaker ad. A Heathkit model IT-121 transistor tester. A Gold Lion KT-66 in the box. A Heathkit model FM-3 tuner. A Realistic portable/car radio. Unfortunately without the dash bracket. A Revere mic I assume is from a RTR. A Weston Electrical Instruments Corp model 564 3C meter. It had inside an almost pristine battery labeled " INSTALL BEFORE FEB. 1963".

This is the 6s27 that I acquired this weekend. I have a working chassis with knobs and speakers that came from New Orleans. I have not finished the project because that radio's cabinet needs a lot of work. The radio that I acquired this weekend has a cabinet in pretty good shape. I will switch out cabinets on the two.

I may have a donor set with the right knobs and possibly a workable speaker (Zenith that was acquired some years ago from a picker). I may be able to get two working units out the deal. If not I will probably just take the chassis from this with the cabinet from my New Orleans set and bring it to a club swap meet for someone else to piece together as a viable unit. My pressing need was a cabinet and this fills that need.

[quote="stevebyan"]I just found this pristine Sylvania RM-90K AM/FM transistorized set at the swap shop in the town dump. The finish is unblemished. I was surprised at its weight, given that it's a solid-state radio. It's missing the appliance-style line cord, so I haven't tried to fire it up yet.

That was one of the quality radios Sylvania made.

I have a RM-300X and I too was surprised at its heft.

If yours is anything like the RM-300X it will have a hefty chassis inside and should work as is, although I would suggest replacing all the electrolytic caps.

There is a copyright date of 1956 on the back. If you, or anyone else, would like a scan of the pamphlet, PM me.
It is pretty unreal to me that the speaker on the top of the page sold for $570 in 1956.

Amazing useless find! Estate auction, $1.00 for this and a pair of Amprobe testers. The GC tool set alone sells now, for $175. If only I needed any of this stuff lol.
