Hi Forum, This might be the wrong place for this question but it does relate to Television, I'm hoping that with all the great idea people here that I might get an answer to the question.
My Vizio tv has a built-in WiFi board I like to be able to build something so I can change the direction of the antenna hopefully, to improve signal strength.
Any ideas ??
Thanks, Tony

Please elaborate on the exact problem. How far is the WiFi transmitter from the receiver? How have you determined the signal strength is in sufficient? Does the TV have a WiFi antenna cable connector?

Google WiFi antenna and DIY WiFi Antenna There are a ton of DIY solutions. I've tried a bunch and can't tell much difference between these types:

Like most current model devices with wifi, I don't think there's any antenna port or external antenna. Probably to keep it simple for the modern consumers.

To solve a low signal strength problem, you can try using a wifi signal "booster" to relay the signal between the wifi router and the device.

Depending on the age of the TV, it may have an older WiFi chip limiting the range and thoroughput. If that is not the case, and the TV has an ethernet port, you can use a WiFi dongle for a better connection.

I solved a similar problem with a WiFi (2.4 GHz/G only, not 5GHz/AC) capable set by placing the range extender in a room behind where the TV was mounted. The antenna inside was a short 3" or so "wick" of exposed coax center conductor - the coax itself was smaller than RG-174 in diameter. Using the browser app on the TV, I went from 7MB/s to 23MB/sec with the D-Link range extender. It cured a buffering problem with Netflix and sound drop-outs on Sling.

I'd imagine a dual band WiFi would be similar, with the antenna buried somewhere in the back of the set.
