Adding together income tax and national insurances, you can reckon roughly a third of your salary will go. Then we have a crippling tax on gasoline, vat on domestic fuel, taxes on most high street products. And then the local authority with their taxes, it's horror beyond belief. You even have to pay death duties and inheritance tax. They have their fingers in everything.
Don't be fooled by having a license fee for the BBC, as there is a certain amount of product placement going on in the programs, even if there is no mention of the actual brand, then there is the self promotion between programs, with what's comping up later, and the talking over program credits, in reality the BBC are almost as bad as the commercial stations.
Saying this, watching some of the commercial satellite stations, it's quite easy to forget what you were watching during the commercial breaks.
