Being from Colorado, l suggest you rub a leaf between two fingers. Does it smell like any herbs on a cooking shelf? Craig

It's obviously the infamous Colorado Poison Death plant.

I planted some Basil for the first time in that pot not too long ago and I was a little surprised to see so many plants sprout so quickly and being a newbe Basil planter I am unaware of how it looks freshly grown...thus my question.

I was willing to accept Greg's chickweed, because it grows like that, but Basil has a smell you can't mistake.
Now Google the recipe for Chickweed Pesto.

I could be wrong but I certainly would not consider that as basil.

Basil leaves get a crinkled look to them as they get bigger.
Usually they have a strong stem, upright, but there are many variations and hybrids, so who knows?
The nose knows.

1st pic - Basil
2nd pic- Chickweed

Does it small "mint-y?" A landscape architect I know (my son) says it looks like some kind of mint.

It isn't basil. I grow a ton every year to make pesto out of and many other things.

Looks like chickweed to me.

Mint species have a characteristic square stem.

Basil is easy to grow, and even garden variety (heh) fresh basil is JUST the stuff for lasagna, spaghetti, or pizza sauce. One of the few herbs that can compete or complement with garlic. The dried stuff is useless compared with fresh. Try it, Trust Me.
