It is a Windows executable, so it would need something like WINE to allow a Windows application to run.

Or, install Windows on your Mac and make it a dual boot machine?

I use CrossOver to run windoze programs on my MacBook Pro.

It works fine.

You can download the zip file and unzip it. The indexes reside in three ascii text files named BINDEX.txt, RINDIX.txt, and SINDEX.txt. The format is a little odd - it appears to be tilde-separated fields. I haven't deciphered the structure of the files, but I don't think it would be too hard to figure it out.

Once you understand the schema, it should be pretty easy to import it into FIlemaker and set up a search window.

The files are just like CSV. files, except they use tildes instead of commas.

That's pretty much it, except there is one column that contains alternative make information that the program can key on to generate more relevant hits ( airline for Montgomery ward and silvertone for Sears Roebuck, for example).

The program should run perfectly with any reasonably competent Windows emulator.

Thank you to all who responded.

I installed the WINE app and was able to install the USL on my Mac.

It functions fine.

Bummer.....here we are in 2019, and Apple has released their lates OS (Catalina).
Turns out Catalina will run only 62bit apps. Universal Schematic Locator is a 32bit program, soooo the nifty little program no longer works on my Mac. Another good reason that I still have my clunky old Windows PC down in my workshop....

I never upgraded my iMac since it came with Mountain Lion.
I know it will run more recent versions of OS X but decided not to pursue that route.

that link needs to be deleted.
it leads to a sleazy domain squatter that tries to trick you into installing malware/crapware.

Yes, same here, that is exactly how you get viruses and malware, do not install anything from that site.

The late Scott Harvey's (aka Primitiveradiogod) Universal Schematic Locator can be found here...
