Seems the web service has not been renewed. Looks like the name has already been jumped on.

>> Update 9-23-21. There DNS name has been renewed. The process is in the posts below...

Something glitched. There was a fairly recent post about how it was taken care of for at least a year (I think it was), so I assume a renewal date was forgotten, and somebody pounced. I've seen it before.

Speculators snap up every domain that lapses and offer then at higher prices because existing names are often more desirable.

I'm landing on a site "name cheap". Using google to fid old posts, it lands on the samepage.

About 20 years ago, someone I knew forgot to renew her domain registration. So a third part grabbed it and sat on it.

The sad/amusing thing was she named her company after the website, so when they grabbed d it, she had to change everything. Not too smart.

I've had a website for over 20 years, it is set to auto renew every five years. Reminders are emailed at least 30 days in advance.

Is Dave a member here?

It's not the site, since it's still working fine for me. Your DNS server likely has a corrupted entry for the site, and it can take some time for it to get fixed.

When I click on my bookmark, I get this redirect message: "This domain was recently registered at Namecheap.com. Please check back later!"

For those whom it's working, what DNS do you use? And is it possible that you're reading a cached copy?

If I type in "theradioboard.com" I get sent to namecheap also.

Just heard from Dave. He is working to restore. Apparently a mix-up on payments.

I checked to make sure it wasn't cached. I did a complete reload, and it still worked. So, obviously the site is still up, but maybe the mix-up with the host simply caused the DNS info to get deleted from some DNS servers.
My DNS servers are:
172.16.1.254
142.165.21.5

Edit: As I recall, the radioboard nameserver is a different company than the site host. This would explain why the site is still up, but not accessible with the URL.

How would you determine the actual IP address of theradioboard.com? That should bypass confused DNS servers.

From a command line you should be able to use a lookup command to find the IP address from a URL. Or you can use a network utility program to do it. However, this just calls the DNS server, which is currently not giving the correct address. I see that my own DNS is now directing to the Namecheap page too. However, I saved the IP address from a previous lookup of theradioboard.com and got: 162.215.249.87
Normally, you could just enter this IP address into the address bar of your browser, except that theradioboard.com, like many other small hobby sites, is a shared site, which means that it shares that same IP address with many other sites. So, you would also have to include some additional subdomain addressing to get to the correct site. Something along the lines of 162.215.249.87/theradioboard.com/
However, I already tried that, and it didn't work. Unfortunately, the subdomain addressing format is specific to the hosting company, and without knowing their format, there's really no way to get to the site.

However, if you're really desperate to get onto the radioboard, you can add an entry to your computer's hosts file. To find your hosts file click this: http://www.whereismyhostsfile.com

Open the host file with a text editor and add this line to the end of the file:

162.215.249.87 theradioboard.com

(Make sure there's at least one space between the IP address and the URL),
then save the file. Then, clicking on your radioboard bookmark or entering "theradioboard.com" into the address bar should get you there. Once the DNS entry has been fixed, you should go back and delete this line from your hosts file.

<Edited for clarity>

Thanks, Bob Weaver. Your instructions fixed the problem on my end.

For Windows users, I had to do this:
Open a command line window with admin privileges.
type cd drivers\etc
type notepad hosts

Add the following line to the bottom of the file
162.215.249.87 theradioboard.com

Click File > Save
Reboot.

That's a great explanation Bob, unfortunately I didn't understand a single word of it. lol

Honestly. What kind of host is this that can't fix a paying customer's DNS entry? It's five seconds of work.

He needs to renew his site certificate too. It's three years out of date.

If all else fails, the WayBackMachine at archive.org captured the entire site most recently Aug 12th of this year. For that matter, they have 77 copies of the site going back to 2003.

Nothing happened to the contents, it's still on a hard drive somewhere. It's just not accessible by name. At the very worst, there'd have to be a new name, but a comment suggests it's just a glitch.

No further news from Dave, N2DS, who started the RadioBoard decades ago. He turned over administration to Jim, KR1S, but my emails to Jim are coming back undelivered.

I am sure Dave is doing his best to get the site restored. It's been a great resource for those of us who like to build radios "from scratch."
