What do you get when you attempt it?

Hmmm. It must be my DNS server that's not locating it. I turned off WiFi, allowing my phone to use ATT network and the site came right up.

For security I use Quad 9 DNS. What do you folks use?

Transfer of the site to another server can be accomplished with just command line few keystrokes if you know how it all works. There are some hosts that will do for you.

Every domain name abandoned is snapped up immediately by domain squatting companies and if you want it back, you have to pay their asking price for it.

You can, of course, create a new name and start using that. The forum software contains a mail to feature that can send a notice to every register member informing them of the new name.

Of course to do any of this requires a person in charge who wants to and is able to continue the site. Contact the owner and get their permission to continue it if you want it to stay around.

I use the router default, which is whatever Verizon uses. The DNS address is in our router, but I didn't put it there.

Here is a link to the new site that someone posted in the Homebrew section. Seems to work fine using Edge.

http://r1rl8.skipdns.link/rb/index.php

Note that the site is not secure.

It's the old site, just a new way to get there.

Any insecurity would be a misdirection to another site, something that would be onvious once there

This morning, I got a notification from KR1S email about a new posting to a topic I had been following on TRB.

When I tried the links, I got back to the useless URL troll.

I guess there is still activity using the methods others have described. The emails about postings must be automatic, as KR1S is out of commission as far as I know.

Rich,

I am not following any posts in TRB as it was or as it is now, even though the TRB is actually one in the same but the the name has been lost.

Therefore, I have not gotten any email notices that a topic has been post to...

I did get however, a notice for Groups.IO from TRB (as a groups.io fall back) that a new posting has been made.

Seems a few new members to the Groups.IO site have not completed their preferences and are having problems.

The question remains, does Dave have any control over the server that has TRB residing?

Is Dave willing to continue keeping the site up or desire to transfer real owner ship to someone other than Jim?

I have refrained contacting Dave as I suspect he is getting multiple emails about this.
----------------------------------------------------

Rich,

Do you think I should rename this topic and/or put important changes into the first post? To better answer what is happening..

Chas

I tried the suggested skipdns link and it works fine :D . FWIW, I use Firefox on a Windows 10 machine. The only minor inconvenience is that the link can't be bookmarked. Or maybe there's a way that I'm not aware of, but it's simple enough and short enough that it's easily typed in.

I joined TRB about a decade ago and have always found it to be a wonderful resource for those of us who like to home-brew radios. Unlike me, many of its members have a tremendous amount of knowledge and expertise and are more than willing to share it.

I'm very grateful to those TRB members who have labored to produce the current work-around.

Tom

I bookmarked it by simply clicking on the "Star+" icon in the Edge address bar then clicked "Done". It saved automatically labeled as "The RadioForums - Index page".

Dave is agreeable to keeping TRB going in some form, but due to his personal situation, he doesn't want any continuing administrative responsibilities. I think he would be willing to transfer to someone who wants to do the job and keep the same type of "personality" for TRB.

If someone were to grab the domain, if they wanted to take over my hosting account, I would help to reestablish TRB where it is now. I would move or discontinue all my websites depending on what could be arranged.

Rich,

Would you please post this to TRB as it exist now and to the groups.io site?

I will leave the title of this thread intact as I now see how important it has become...

Hi everyone this is my first post here. I am a member of TRB and now, here. I have a number of antique radios but my primary interest is building homemade crystal set radios and other simple radios and understanding what is going on in them. As you all know, TRB has issues and may possibly be dead. One option members have brought up is that TRB members move to an existing radio forum.

How would you folks feel if a sudden rush of TRB 'refugees' moved here and started posting in the 'Homebrew Radios and Equipment' section? What we mostly discuss is somewhat different than what I see there. Members and moderators please comment. I personally feel this forums' 'Homebrew Radios and Equipment' section would be a good alternative for us TRB members but if we moved en mass we may change the feel of that section. Many thanks.

Robert

I have just heard from NameCheap..

They have reactivated the Radioboard DNS

The changes will take a while to propagate through the DNS system.
