This is an old email that was from Verizon when I had their Internet service. They switched it over to AOL. When I have to give an email address, instead of using my other everyday email, I use this. But this stuff below has nothing to do with any of that. I didn't open any of this crap of course. But it was cleared out yesterday. Gosh, what a WONDERFUL spam filter AOL has.... NOT!!!

Rubbish...

Just in case it isn't?

Good ISPs I gather get together and filter known spam.

But gmail I notice can misdirect legit email to "junk". If they deleted it, you'd never know. But since they put it in a separate place, "junk", you can check before a final deletion

My "main" email is GMAIL and I must say, it does an excellent job. I do check the spam folder and it usually is unnecessary stuff. But those obscene emails that are always in the AOL inbox never even show up in GMAIL. I guess they filter it up front.

My ISP is so intent on blocking spam they are blocking my Wells Fargo, Chase, and Macy’s emails.

And they have no idea how to fix

You should be able to whitelist the senders. If not, consider having all your email forwarded to a different service like Gmail where they have better spam filtering. One nice thing about Gmail is you can have mail sent there and set it to include the original To address as the reply From address. If you send me mail at alan@antiqueradios.com the reply will have that return address, even though it was all handled through my Gmail account. I've had that address since 1994 (and GMail since 2004) and it's posted all over the web. Even so, I seldom see any spam messages because Gmail filtering is so good.

One other plus to using a Gmail account is you can have unlimited email addresses and create filterable To addresses to see where spam comes from, you just add + and a description to your address.

For example, if your Gmail address is somegmailaddress@gmail.com and you need an email to sign up for some service, just submit your email as somegmailaddress+service@gmail.com Google will send the email to the address ignoring the + and what follows it, but they'll include that in the To address so you can see where it came from and allow you to easily filter it out. Gmail also ignores . characters in the account name. So somegmailaddress@gmail.com is the same as some.gmail.address@gmail.com
