I picked up a box of water slide decals today at a local Ham Club Swap Meet, and in the box were some pamphlets for Rock-Sea Enterprises Decals & Dial Scales in Ojai, CA from 2001 - 2002. Does anyone know what became of this business? Ironically, there was a receipt in the box from some decals purchased from this business by the vendor I bought them from dated 9/10/01.

Also included was a 4 page brochure from probably the same time period with dials, and other parts from Bill Turner of St. Louis, MO. Is he still selling?

Rather than Googling each of them I figured some of you gents would know the status of these vendors.

Thanks,
Greg

I think Rock Sea was bought by Radio Daze. Bill Turner
passed away some time ago. AFAIK his business closed.

Thanks for the info. I had a hunch RD bought R-S. Sorry to hear about Bill. Looked like he had a lot of nice things for sale.

Rock-Sea was one of the earlier suppliers of decals and dial scales. As mentioned earlier, Radio Daze acquired them about 10 or so years ago.

As far as the other source, Bill Turner was a really nice guy. He coached me on how to make my own plastic dial covers many years ago. It seemed he had the whole deck stacked against him as far as health problems went, but it never seemed to overtake him.

I don't recall hearing that Bill Turner passed away? Health issues prevented him from continuing his small home cottage business some time ago.

I don't remember seeing anything about Bill Turner's death either. Though by now, he'd be getting on in years.

He disappeared because his webtv unit died, and he insisted that was his only option. So for some years, someone here kept his webpage going, but transactions were done by mail. He did stop that, about 2014, and someone took over the dial covers. At that point his health had declined.

When I think of Bill Turner, I see a prolific writer for 73 magazine, lots of short articles, and a 6M column too. He even did a column about surplus in 1974, mostly industrial.

I remember Bill Turner from the old rec.radio.antique.phono newsgroup on usenet. That was quite a group back 25 or so years ago. I learned a lot from those guys like Bill and Bill O.C (Old Coot) and a host of others when I first got into the hobby. Bought my first console, an RCA K80 from a fellow poster on the newsgroup.
