Got a cell phone text from xxx-xxx-xxxx last night saying "This is your dominos delivery driver! im outside your building!! Your food is on the bench!". Yes, we have a bench by the door, no we didn't order a pizza. Besides the nearest Domino's is 25 miles away. Needless to say there was no pizza out front. I guess the scam is to get someone to text back saying there is some kind of mistake, get credit card info for a refund, etc. I have read younger people are more likely to fall this sort of thing than us older and presumably wiser guys.

Edited for clarification.

I doubt Domino's Pizza is doing the scamming.

It's clearly not a Domino's scam! You should remove the apostrophe from your subject line.

I'm curious if some software glitch caused a cell phone problem with people receiving wrong number calls. A few weeks ago I was waiting for my order at a Chinese restaurant, and the lady taking phone orders for take out said they kept getting wrong calls from up north. I myself got a wrong number twice that sounded like a person speaking Chinese briefly, then silence. Then about a week ago someone with an area code same as mine with a close number called me and asked why I called him. I said I didn't, you're not even in my call log. What the heck is going on here? Is China playing games with us? Or just a glitch?

Number spoofing by the spammers. Same thing was happening here a month or so back. Lots of local numbers, all spam if you answered. I called a couple back, and one guy called me to ask why I/he were called. No such call made by either party. I got a few international numbers too, which I did not answer. Most recent has been multiple calls from another city the other end of the state. All are spam, even though the numbers are assigned and in use by the rightful owners. Delete and block.

I think someone got a cold pizza. Somehow the number got changed and matched your number. Not every call is a scam.

I have been getting cell spam calls from Country Code 60- Egypt.
part of msg. was on answering. Some crap about "extended warranty".

I blocked the number. Now getting 2-6 a day, even on "Do Not Call List" , Yeah useless.
If person does not leave msg., or I don't know caller, number is blocked.

That's odd, usually it's the other way around.

Older people are willing to talk about things like this to help others not fall for it. Maybe younger people are not willing to look like a fool.

I get these "the extended warranty on you vehicle is about to expire". I punch 1 to talk to the warranty person and the first thing I get asked is "what is the make, model and year of your car? I ask, "If you know my warranty is about to expire you should already know that". CLICK!

I have the volume on my land line phone turned down to zero, here on my computer desk.

When the screen on the phone lights up, it signals an incoming call. If I see a "V" followed by a continuous string of numbers, or the caller ID the same as the number, I let them either hang up, or record their spiel. I then delete the msg W/O listening to it.

A genuine caller would not have either of the above. If it reads, "wireless caller", I'll turn the volume up to hear if it's a phony or not, when they record a message.

I dunno why you guys waste time, energy, and frustration answering these robocalls. Their singular purpose, legitimate or usually not, is to extract your money from you.

On my land line I kept getting one ring only calls and the screen would show some local number, but it was bogus. Finally figured out why. I had previously chose to filter spam. So now after the first ring it disconnects. Took me a while to connect the dots.
