When I was 5 years old, I remember sitting in front of my television, and when Annette came on, I would kiss the screen. She came from my backyard, Utica, New York, Dave Doughty should recall, I think he's from Utica, I came from Oneida, about 30 miles away.

Sadly, suffered the effects of MS for years. Once the Beach Movie franchise dried up, she ran a very successful doll and teddy bear business.

I remember an interview she did about Walt Disney years ago. She had nothing but praise for him. She was a very classy lady. I was a fan of hers on the Mickey Mouse Club.

I couldn't wait for the MMC to come on the TV everyday and it wasn't to watch Mickey. They struck gold when they signed her. A beautiful, classy lady who sadly suffered from MS later in life. Sadly missed.

So sad to read this, Annette was my favorite, us boys in grade school had a crush on her.
Annette was a year older than me.

Sorry to hear this. :(
When she was in high school, I lived across the street so she was always a "home-town girl."
Not the only celeb from Utica.
Dick Clark's father owned the local radio station (WRUN) which is how he got his start.

Tunes...very touching pic...last one I saw that affected me a lot was one with about 10 Looney Toons characters standing around an old microphone...caption was " Speechless," in relation to the passing of Mel Blanc.
I also had eyes for Annette. More so than Darlene. I know of two albums Annette did; "Hawaiianette" and "Italianette." Have a digital download of "Hawaiianette." Sounds like she was about 15 or so when she recorded it.

I'm from a little later era so I always remember Annette from the stupid beach party movies that I always (and still do) watched. Eric Von Zipper, Dead Head, Don Rickles, and Buston Keaton was in at least one of them. The acting was almost non-exsistant and the music was pretty bad too, except the one with Dick Dale in it, but it was part of an era.

I always wondered why she always wore a one piece when all the other girls barely had anything on. I have heard that Walt D. himself asked her to and she agreed to it. Maybe an urban legend, who knows?

It was fun going to the drive-in during the mid-'60's with the beach party flicks playing; the girlfriend would soon get bored, eh eh.

I had read -long time ago- that Walt had asked Annette not to show her navel in bathing suit scenes. The one-piece suit was the only solution.

One of our local channels ran the Mickey Mouse Club as reruns in the early 1960s; I watched it every day.

I saw one of her beach party movies with Frankie Avalon with them dancing to the top hits from an RCA Skipper radio-phonograph playing under the beach umbrella. It was indeed a coincidence that I sold and shipped my Skipper on the day of Annette's death.

She and Frankie were quite a pair, and had all of us rockin' in the early 60s.
