Those who had purchased Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' Orange Vinyl Editions when they were first introduced in 2017 would have had mighty good investments. I mean, look at the prices that those orange vinyl editions are commanding now! See the above link. Actually, I have one such vinyl edition (as seen in the photo) which I had purchased for $39.99 at the time.

There were actually two auctions of the Taylor Swift 'Reputation' Orange Vinyl Editions yesterday from a seller based in Brentwood, Tennessee, and both of the orange vinyl editions sold for a whopping $660.00 each!

Yes, just sheer madness! The eBay auction for the Taylor Swift 'Reputation' Orange Vinyl Edition just ended with a top bid of a whopping $910.00. With no less than 49 sharks to feed that bidding frenzy, I wasn't too surprised. To add insult to injury, there is also a $20.00 shipping charge tacked on.

Amazing. And almost certainly, the CD version sounds better.

Wow! Look at the sharks going after this one, and it's only the Taylor Swift 'Reputation' Picture Disc Vinyl Edition. The current top bid is at $92.00 with 42 bidders no less! With a little over a day to go, it should be interesting to see where this album tops out at.

Especially when you can listen to it on Spotify for free. That's still more than more than I'd pay to hear her, though.

The vinyl fad is really getting ridiculous. I'm getting to the point where I don't buy records anymore unless the music isn't readily available digitally somewhere. I like music. The source doesn't matter so much. I'm not paying crazy prices for an over-hyped grooved piece of plastic it comes on. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking about taking most of my records to the flea market and selling them while prices are high.

I bet if they made something of hers on limited edition CD, it would go for big bux also!

Madness! The Taylor Swift 'Speak Now' Vinyl Album went for $300.00 on eBay, and this was for a used album no less! Actually, those LP's could have been previously played on a cheap Crosley or Jensen for all anybody knows.

I'm not so sure as CD copies can be easily made. However, that may not be necessarily so in some cases as a few CD editions are extremely rare and can command big bucks. Obviously, this would not be the case with the vinyl albums.

Why on earth would they bid up a used album like Taylor Swift's 'Speak Now' vinyl edition for $300.00 on eBay when they can pick up a new one at Amazon for $45.80?

Here's yet another eBay auction for the Taylor Swift 'Reputation' Orange Vinyl Edition, and with only a few hours to spare before the auction ends, the top bid is currently at $415.00 USD with 5 bidders.

Edit: The auction ended with a top bid of $660.00 along with a total of 20 bidders which was roughly on par.

Maybe because the eBay version is the rare clear vinyl edition, and the Amazon one is the still in print black vinyl edition?

That appears to be the case. Actually, I had purchased both Taylor Swift's 'Speak Now' and 'Red' vinyl albums some time after I had purchased her later '89' vinyl album. Consequently, I wasn't even aware that the 'Speak Now' album came in both the clear and black vinyl at the time the album debuted. As you can see from the photo, I had purchased the 'Speak Now' black vinyl version. Incidentally, the 'Speak Now' clear vinyl version on eBay was in used condition, and it still went for $300.00. Of course, the clear vinyl version isn't going to sound any better, but it is a little more cosmetically attractive.

Heck, I didn't pay much mind at all as to the color of the vinyl until you mentioned it. Still, I would much rather purchase a brand new Taylor Swift 'Speak Now' black vinyl album for under $40.00 now than a used clear vinyl album for $300.00 any day. I mean, who knows what condition the used clear vinyl album on eBay would be in, or who would even care when a new album can be had for far less money?
