Sorry that I didn't see your post earlier. I have an old magazine write-up about that model. It is indeed model 612 and from 1949. A nice find as it's a fairly uncommon one. Emerson made good TV's in the early days, so it'll probably be a good performer once restored and have a decent value.
Yes, do not attempt to plug it in and turn it on. It will most likely not work anyway or work very poorly, and you possibly can damage components. Unless you can do the work yourself, which requires years of experience to even attempt it, it will be pricey to have someone restore it. Typically $200-$300.
