I think those knobs are a nifty improvement in styling, and for sure the added depth makes them operate easier and with more control. Good mod!

Fully agreed. Now if Tom could photoshop a picture with gold-plated front, I think it would look awesome.

Can't they be 3D printed?

It's a challenge for me to print a online receipt.....

Originals are shallow so they are even with escutcheon. In event of tip over, I assume less likely to break knobs or maybe damage volume control.

Knobs I used are for large D shafts, fit tuning just fine. For volume I used a smaller insert inside original as a reducer, worked out nicely.

I just opened and tested the radio.

It looks like it is brand new out of the box.

Chrome is perfect, handle and leather are immaculate, reception is incredible.

I made a video, which will be posted as soon as I can get near some strong wifi.

Wasn't quite sure of where to post this, I made a video showing the operation of 2 early 60's portable transistors, and a 1939 Pilot tube floor console.

I beg the pardon of the mods if I have posted this in The wrong forum.

Yep, that's a niceun, congrats on the find.

I'm yet to see a orig that didn't benefit from at least a RF alignment. If stations are indicated correctly on dial scale you can skip the osc(center), but RF(two outermost) adj on tuning cap will wake up the distant stations. Generally requires a minor adj.
