Hello,

I had someone ask me about helping them out with their GE P-975 AM/FM radio. This is what they said, "Need to wiggle dial to turn on the radio" & "does not stay on a station".

Since I don't have the radio in my possession, I can't tell you much more. But I would like to help out as I know it has sentimental value to the owner.

I can ask about it more as well as getting the radio to me if needed.

But I thought I mine as well ask,

Does this issue sound familiar?
Is this model difficult to work on?

I would sure appreciate the help!

Henry

Which "dial"? If it's the tuning dial, the tuning cap either needs cleaning or it's just plain bad.

The next step would be to get the radio in your possession.

Dave,

Trying to get the radio in my hands for further troubleshooting, just don't want to take on something I can't do.

Here's what I copied from the last email, "when you tune the station in you shut it off and then when you go to turn it back on you have to tune the station in again sometimes it's clear sometimes it's not "

And by the way, Can anyone get me the schematic for the P-975 F? I would like to look at the circuit a bit.

Thank you

Henry

Does this happen on AM, FM, or both?

Assuming he's listening to FM, tell him to tune in the station with the AFC switched off. Leave the AFC switched off. Then turn the radio off then back on. Ask him if the problem still happens.
