On page 4 of this manual you will find a discussion of the differences between how the Army and Navy versions of the BC-639A are held in their cabinets. One version has three extra retaining screws around the antenna connector, the other does not. One version has spring stock to make a good electrical connection between chassis and cabinet - this can make it very hard to start sliding the chassis out of the cabinet after all the retaining screws are removed.

Thanks Chuck! That was it. Couldn't believe the one small antenna screw I didn't see was the culprit. That'll teach me to post without going over everything with a fine tooth comb and a magnifying glass! Thanks again
