 Post subject: Mystery Resistor

Just took my first peek under the chassis of this Delco 1190 console, and delighted to see that it looks it's all original. (I think) The first thing that I spotted was a popped resistor. From the documentation, I figure it to be R17 a 230Ω (250? hard to read), but it's a type I've not encountered. (I'm pretty new to this). Can anyone shed some light on this type? Thanks in advance!

That's a flexible wirewound resistor, a style that was commonly used back in those days in relatively low resistance values and ratings up to a few watts.

The white fluffy stuff that appears to have burst from the resistor is probably asbestos...
