Hi, Im currently working on a 1933 Crosley 167... I ran across a little problem with the speaker LOL.... this unit coil test out good,, needs a ton of cleaning and reset back up, I have the 1/2 inch voice coil (new) but the problem Im having is finding a speaker cone with the 1/2 inch cut out.. in the past was able to use the cones with the 1 inch cutout, had to cut a smaller ring to make it fit the 1/2 inch voice coil. (trying to get away from that) This is a 6 inch round speaker.. the links I have found here are a bit dated.. does anybody know where I can purchase the cone? (Yes, that create paper and wood glue)

IMHO no one makes a re-cone kit for vintage speakers...

What can be done:

- Place a WTB in the classified for a good speaker.

- Shop ebay for a replacement cone with a small apex, sadly these may have a foam surround and that will collide in the cabinet. Be creative in the ebay search, clear the cookies and don't sign in.

- Find a vintage used or NOS speaker same size cone and salvage using glue solvents.

> A late model speaker for cone salvage may be assembled with one-time curing adhesives and cannot be salvaged.

Need to see if spider is OK by careful disassembly using solvents

There are bugs in your image software...

YMMV

You might try making your own. Here's one I made:

I used a cone template that I found on the internet.

Works for most 20's speakers.

Check out Speakerguy2002 on Ebay. He has a large inventory of speaker cones and other parts.
I couldn't find an email address so just search Ebay.
