Hi All,
I'm working on this set and there are quite a few differences between the Riders and Beitmans schematics and what is in this set. The major difference is that it has a permanent magnet speaker instead of an electromagnetic. I am not sure if this was a production change or if someone replaced it because it is a Zenith part. This changes the power supply circuit a little bit and also the tone circuit. Also, the tone switch is a 2 position type instead of the 3 position type shown in the schematic (part # 85-407 as opposed to 85-365). So, does anybody have a schematic that might reflect these production changes? If that's what they really are. Thanks.
------------------
Sean

Hi Sean,
My Zenith book, volume 3, page 90, shows a model 8H034Z, chassis 8C01Z, with a PM speaker, and tone control 85-365, two position (Normal-Lo).
Page 88 is the model 8H034, chassis 8C01, with field coil type speaker. It also has the tone control switch as 85-365.
One major difference between the two is the tapped primary on the output transformer used with the PM speaker.
Hope this helps,

------------------
Meade

Hi Meade,
Yep, I noticed the tapped primary transformer. You wouldn't be able to scan that schematic for the Z chassis would you?
------------------
Sean

I would be glad to copy it and send it by snail-mail, I don't have a scanner at the moment. Send me your mailing address by email, and I'll get it in tomorrow's mail.
------------------
Meade
