Is it possible to change the frequency preset on these microphone designed radios handed out as publicity items by stations in the 1960's? They are preset to just one frequency. I have an AM Mike radio like the picture that is set to an AM station frequency that is no longer broadcasting in my area. An article talks about " a plug-in crystal used to define the reception frequency"
Thanks for any suggestions!

I’m guessing the crystal at the bottom right controls the frequency and swapping it out with another changes what channel/frequency is used? I don’t know if it’s as simple as that or if you’d also need to change out a coil?

The FM model had a crystal. The OP wds50 has the AM model.

Those are not his photos. lol
Greg.

Edit: ...it appears that the tunable coil near the trimmer cap controls the oscillator frequency, so that would set what the radio will tune.

Yes, this is correct. No crystal in this AM set. I have posted a couple of pictures of the inside chassis of this AM set I have. The frequency it was initially set up with was 1150.
