I make my own reproduction batteries for several of my 20s sets.
In the A batteries (#6 cells) I have 4 C cells within. I have been soldering C cells together with great success. The batteries typically last a year or so with fairly regular use . However, I am considering going to rechargeable cells and there in lies my question/ dilema.

How would one go about charging the C cells once they are solders together into the #6 cell? In some applications it is three in a battery and other times four.

Are the #6 cell containers large enough to accommodate C battery holders? If so, that might be the way to go as they would remain discrete, and not soldered together.

The charge rate for one cell times the number of cells...
Works for nickle and lithium cells...

For example, those 30-40AH traction cells are actually 3 flat pack cells, parallel, in one can...

You can get rechargeables with solder tabs and thin sleeve insulation. IMHO stuff as many as possible but USE a FUSE or Reset-able thermal link on either the + on - . Huge current can flow on a short and set fire to something...

Nice work on those batteries.
For a while I was getting little flashlights in my Christmas stockings. Some have holders for 3, some for 4 AAA's, and the holders slide out, very handy.
