the "s" meter was acting strangely and my bfo quit. of all the caps i changed i didnt touch the bfo coil when i rebuilt the set.a recap of the bfo coil restored all its functions. thinking about the possibilities that other untouched mica's may not be long for this world i went ahead and replaced all the mica's in the I.F. transformers. this required the alignment of the I.F. which peaked as it should without incident. HOWEVER after setting it on carrier wave with @1000hz tone and no modulation i CANT get my hand anywhere near the xtal phasing knob without creating all all kinds of noise. moreover, the phase control seems to have no effect on signal. the set is grounded. anyone have any ideas???
