I have a thread in the mechanical restoration section for this console, I now have this thread to showcase and ask questions specific to this cabinet restoration. Maybe we can add a touch of general cabinet restoration technique, I've done a little in the past but I plan on taking care of my basic tech research elsewhere. I think the biggest unexplored thing is the chips in the laminate and what is possible besides matching filler or complete de lamination of that area. I have some laminate to glue down and some chips and peel/ crack in other areas to repair before stripping.
First I'd like to ask anyone who has seen or restored a Bosch 680 has a recommended color toner once all that is done.
I have other questions, but I like to have the materials set up before I get to work...

I would use minwax golden oak over all of the cabinet once you remove the old finish. The top left and right corners, the base and the center pillar in front of the speaker is either popular or gum and will be lighter than the mostly walnut cabinet. There I would use vandyke brown aniline dye.

Thanks for the advice, Larry. Do you recommend grain filler in general? And areas will need filling and sanding regardless of grain filler, any recommendations on the order that should be done in?

I use the old fashion sheetrock patch and stain it after I sand the excess off.
