Hi Folks,

I have recently received an Atwater Kent model 225, the chassis of which is currently under restoration.

The cabinet is in pretty bad shape, and seeing as it is relatively small, I wanted to try my hand at refinishing it. Here are a few questions, maybe someone has some input.

1) Best way to strip the old finish off this radio? Is it correct to assume that this finish was lacquer, and using a solvent to remove this will be best?
2) Any idea on the type of wood(s) that AK typically used for veneer?
3) Suggestions for refinishing products?

Thanks,
-Alex
