Another nice radio was given to me for a total refinish and new grill cloth by a local club member, this is common or maybe uncommon I would say chairside by zenith, 1938 I believe, . I gave this cabinet a full make over including the fadeout toning that zeniths cabinet people done on there radios during the assembly process. Grain filler and 3 sealer coats, 3 lacquer top coats was all it took to get this cabinet smooth and lookin great, not to mention the staining and spray toning done.

Hi Fred,

Nice work, as always!

Well, I guess great minds think alike :lol:
Here's a copy of an old ad for the 9S244 along with mine that I refinished about 10 years ago.

I believe that the dark toning is accurate, although some like to see it more subdued.

That zenith was a customers and he is doing the electrical work, he just gave me the cabinet to refinish.
